Vacuum Stress Relieving

It is achieved by heating to a temperature below the lower transformation temperature, as in tempering, holding long enough to reduce residual stress and cooling slowly enough, usually in Nitrogen, to minimize the development of new residual stresses. Stress relief heat treating is used to relieve internal stresses locked in the gear as a consequence of a manufacturing step. NATIONAL HEAT TREAT has 2 furnaces capable of performing this process.
