Furnace Operator

This position reports to the Shop Supervisor and operates heat treating furnaces to vacuum heat treat, nitride, anneal, temper, carburize, austenitize, normalize, and oil/water quench a variety of parts and materials, where cycle time, temperature and methods are prescribed. Will be responsible for the shift that they run and the shop employees that assist this position. Work with Quality to maintain processes and produce quality products.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for the integrity of customer material and parts. Must be processed with no damages.
  • Follow scheduled workload according to management request.
  • Be able to make/set-up and break/tear down loads.
  • Load and Unload all furnaces.
  • Operate and Monitor: Endothermic Generators, Atmospheric Furnaces, Vacuum Furnaces, Nitriding Furnaces, Shot Blaster, and Open Fire Car Bottom Furnaces.
  • Assist Q/C in Hardness Testing (HBW, HRC, HRB, 15-N, Etc.)
  • Monitor and Maintain Water Quench Tank.
  • Responsible for performing basic scheduled PM tasks on equipment..
  • Responsible for notifying Maintenance on any equipment issues and ensuring downtime is minimized.
  • Responsible for documenting work order task completion.
  • Responsible for proper storage of processed material and in-process material in designated locations..
Requirements
  • Ability to learn and adapt to different types of heat-treating equipment.
  • Proficiency in Temperature Controllers, High Limits, and Furnace Chart Recorders.
  • Ability to lift 50lb or less.
  • Solid organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Attentive to detail and committed to high quality customer service.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to identify problems and suggest process improvements.
  • Takes pride in maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • High School Diploma/GED.

  • Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred).
Preferred Skills
  • 3+ years of experience in Atmosphere Integral Quench experience.
  • Certified Forklift Operator.

Quality Assurance Technician

This position reports to the National Heat Treat, LLC. – Quality Manager. The QA Technician is responsible for all required inspection of parts prior to release back to the customer. Performs scheduled maintenance and verifications to testing, measuring and monitoring equipment. Assists the Quality Manager in other areas to ensure product conformity and maintaining the Quality Management System. Works with Production to ensure that processes are being followed and our operation is continually improving.

Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data.
  • Carry out routine tasks accurately and follow strict methodologies to carry out analysis.
  • Prepare samples.
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, i.e. micro hardness testers, microscopes, saws, and polishing and mounting equipment.
  • Record and interpret results to present to Quality Manager or designee.
  • Logging incoming samples.
  • Cutting samples of proper size from appropriate location for testing. Cutting technique will include waterjet cutting and/or abrasive saw cutting.
  • Mounting and polishing samples
  • Performing hardness and micro hardness tests for surface hardness, core hardness and for case depth analysis.
  • Etching of samples to evaluate inter-granular oxide depth, % retained austenite, % non-martensitic transformation products, and other microstructural characteristics.
  • Technician will also be required to perform other QA or safety related functions as directed by supervisor or designee.
  • Maintain supplies inventory and verify calibration of equipment.
  • Ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks are followed.
  • Understanding of standards and specifications for testing requirements.
  • Verification of all testing, measuring and monitoring equipment to include (not limited to): Hardness Testers, Gas Generators, Quench Tank Concentration, IQ Furnace Carbon Potential, Lab Equipment.
  • Equipment Testing activities: TUS, SAT’s, Oil Analysis sample collection, etc.
  • Work with Production to ensure timely delivery of test pieces to the outside testing labs.
  • Write-up micro-hardness certificates.
  • Report non-conforming products to the Quality Manager for disposition.
  • Maintain NCR log and report any trends to the Quality Manager.
  • May perform other duties, as required.
Job Requirements/Education/Training
  • 3+ years of experience in testing or inspection in a Heat Treating or Manufacturing environment Preferrable.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Skilled in the use of instruments such as calipers, gauges, grinders, micrometers, flow-meters, etc.
  • Oil and Gas Industry experience, preferred.
  • Must possess Strong Analytical and Communication Skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe programs.
  • Attentive to detail and committed to high quality customer service.
  • Ability to work in time-sensitive environment with non-flexible deadlines.
